Dancing in the Streets combines our love for dance, for the city, and fun. We started recruiting different dancers and non dancers who wanted to participate in a salsa class. The project referenced a group of people whose life revolved around dance. The result were three videos that were filmed in the city of Reading, PA.
The STATIC DANCER project was designed to marry the inter-disciplines of dance, photography, architecture, and history. The project will focus on highlighting the different cultural dances of the groups living in the city of Reading and photograph them against the city background.
The project will consist of photographing dancers of different ethnic backgrounds dressed in their native folkloric dresses using the city as a backdrop for the pictures.
These pictures will then go on different galleries across Berks County to bring awareness of such cultures among the general population.
Barrio Alegria is proud to serve as a catalist for this project that will raise cultural awareness of the different ethnic groups and unite them through music and dance.
